Biography

Ousmane Lecoq Diop is a Ph.D. candidate in French and Francophone Studies at the University of Kansas. He is a native of Senegal in West Africa. He is Senegalese, French, and American citizen. 

Ousmane has taught French in High School for thirteen years and holds a master’s degree in French from the University of North Texas, a graduate certificate in African and African American Studies from the University of Kansas, a Wolof certificate from University Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar, Senegal. He is a native and Wolof speaker and has additional skills in Arabic and Spanish. 

Ousmane is in the last stages of completing his dissertation entitled: “Multidimensional Cultural Navigation and Translations: The Question of Languages Between ‘Sénégalité’ and Cosmopolitanism in Contemporary Senegal.”

Ousmane enjoys spending time with his French wife Patricia who is a French high school’s teacher at Lawrence High school and their six years old boy Ibrahima Miguel Daouda. He also enjoys refereeing soccer games as well as playing tennis.
