French Graduate Program

Apply to the graduate program for non-degree-seeking status via the Office of Graduate Studies online application system.

Application Materials:

  • A current résumé or C.V.
  • Statement of Purpose: This statement (3 pages in French).  This statement should provide the admissions committee with a sense of what you hope to encounter in graduate coursework, your experience and general research interests at this point in your career, and what skills you hope to strengthen and develop.
  • Transcripts: Transcripts are required from all institutions from which a degree was obtained, or any institutions attended post-bachelors. 
  • For applicants whose native language is not French: submit an mp3 audio file directly to the graduate director, Van Kelly (vkelly@ku.edu), on which the applicant speaks extemporaneously (do not use a prepared script) for approximately five minutes in French, giving an account of background, training, and interests.
  • English Language Proficiency exam scores.  If you are a non-native speaker of English, see the English Proficiency Requirements. Applicants must meet the minimum requirement for Regular admission. KU's TOEFL institutional code is 6871.
