Study French and Italian Languages and Literatures at the University of Kansas

French, Italian, and Francophone studies at KU prepare our students succeed today's global economy - our department offers courses ranging from basic language study and major/ minor-level coursework in both French and Italian, all the way to advanced graduate seminars at the M.A. and Ph.D. level in French.

In our department, students work closely with nationally- and internationally recognized scholars. Undergraduate students can work one-on-one with faculty mentors in the Honors Program, McNair Scholars Program, and the Dean’s Scholars Program.

Our campus is consistently ranked in national polls as among the most beautiful US campuses. The city of Lawrence provides a vibrant yet calm environment with beautiful parks, bustling downtown streets, and a great selection of recreational activities. Surrounding lakes make Lawrence a popular destination year-round. Downtown offers a large variety of retail shops, restaurants, bars and coffee shops.
